AIM

The main aim of the 5th CEFSER training course is to provide participants knowlodge in the analysis of different classes of pollutants in food samples, including sample preparation techniques, instrumentation, quality assurance and quality control. Results accomplished in the CEFSER lab will be presented in order to spread the knowledge and promote this FP7 Center of Excellence in Food Safety and Emerging Risks as a modern centre for joint research

DESCRIPTION

The training course is organized within FP7 project CEFSER, GA no. 229629, coordinated by the Faculty of Technology, University of Novi Sad, Noni Sad, Republic Serbia. CEFSER is strongly linked excellent centers suchg as: CHIRON AS form Norway, Institute for Environmental Studies (IVM) at Vrije University (VU) from the Netherlands, the Spaish Instituto de Investigaciones Quimicas y Ambientales from Barcelona (IIQAB-CSIC) , and Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT) from Prague, Czech Republic. During the project lifetime, the key presonnel from the CEFSER supporting partners with an outstanding expertise in the advanced analysis of the contaminants and pharmaceuticals in food and environmental matrices, have contributed significantly to CEFSER activities.

The training will be divided into theoretical and practical part. Before the start of training course, trainees will receive handouts (papers, lectures, etc.) to provide them preliminary information about the scope of the training. Each course section is accompanied by exercises in small group (5-6 people) during which the concepts are put into practice.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

One of the main challenges in front of CEFSER is to effectively distribute gained information and knowldege of the recent findings and advances in the analysis of contaminants in food and the environment to a variety targeted audiences in the whole Balkan area and EU as well. In order to motivate scientists from Western Balkan Countries to participate in the training course, few grants will be available for the participants outside CEFSER. Selected number of candidates from all WBCs with the most successful applications (CVs and brief description of the research project or area of work and motivation for course participation written on maximum 1 page (application form is not available after the course) will be garanted.

The grant will cover the cheapest available ticket for travelling to the course and the average accommodation rates. The maximum grant is 300 euro. Only upon the submission of the original tickets and receipts to the course organizer (Prof B. Škrbić, Faculty of Technology, University of Novi Sad), the reimbursement of costs will be made up to the maximum grant amount.

The course will be aimed at researchers, laboratory managers and all other practitioners in analytical laboratories form Western Balkan Countries (WBCs) who are involved in the analysis of chemical contaminants and pharmaceuticals in food and the environment with at least basic knowledge in instrumental analytical techniques and ability to discuss and interact in English. Besides the garanted ones, all other interested will be allowed to attend the course on their own expenses after completing the application form and sending it to the organizer.

VENUE

The training course will be organized at the Faculty of Technology, University of Novi Sad, Bulevar cara Lazara 1, 21000 Novi Sad, Republic Serbia.
