DESCRIPTION | |
In two days of course, the attendees will have a chance to learn more about the persistent organic pollutants (POPs), their occurrence in the environment and food, industrial sources, risk assessment, chemometrics application, etc. |
Additionally, the participants will be introduced with methods developed and results obtained in the CEFSER Laboratory for Chemical Contaminants in Food and the Environment at the Faculty of Technology. |
Similarly to previous CEFSER courses, limited numbers of grants covering the accommodation and travel of participants from WBCs will be available in order to motivate scientists from the region to participate in the training course. |
ABOUT THE KEY LECTURERS
Prof. Dr. Ivan Holoubek, RECETOX - Research Centre for Toxic Compounds in the Environment, National POPs Centre, Central and Eastern European Regional POPs Centre, Masaryk University, Brno Czech Republic.
Prof. I. Holoubek has significant background in environmental chemistry, chemical ecotoxicology, risk analysis and environmental impact assessment, with remarkable publication records with 16 books or book chapters, 7 textbooks, over 630 scientific papers, conference contributions, research and technical reports. He is a member of several international associations and institutions and a member of editorial boards of known international journals like Chemosphere, Environmental Science and Pollution Research, and Fresenius Environmental Bulletin. |
Dr. Károly Héberger, Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Budapest, Hungary
Dr. K. Heberger is a leading Hungarian chemometrician, who is also internationally well recognized with contribution in the field of applied chemometrics in analytical chemistry, environmental pollution and food quality/safety domains. He is an author of several reviews on important issues within the chemometrics and also a coauthor of numerous peer-reviewed articles and delivered more than 260 lectures or posters. His papers were cited more than 1500 times. Dr. Héberger has been a guest editor in the top international journals dedicated to chemometrics (e.g. Chem. Intell. Lab. Syst., J. Chemom.). He has chaired the International Symposium “Conferentia Chemometrica” and “International Symposium on Computer Applications and Chemometrics in Analytical Chemistry”. |
WHO SHOULD ATTEND? | |
One of the main challenges in front of CEFSER is to effectively distribute gained information and knowledge on the recent findings and advances in the analysis of contaminants in food and the environment to a variety of targeted audiences in the whole Balkan area and EU as well. |
The course will be aimed at laboratory managers and practitioners in analytical laboratories from Western Balkan Countries (WBCs) who are involved in the analysis of chemical contaminants and pharamaceuticals in food and the environment with at least basic knowledge in analytical chromatographic techniques and ability to discuss and interact in English. Besides the granted ones, all other interested will be allowed to attend the course on their own expenses after completing the application form and sending it to the organizer. |
GRANTS | |
Selected number of candidates from all WBCs with the most successful applications (CVs and brief description of the research project or area of work and motivation for course participation written on maximum 1 page will be granted. The grant will cover the most economical return ticket for travelling to the course and the average accommodation rates. The maximum grant is 250 Euro. Only upon the submission of the original tickets and receipts to the course organizer (Prof. B. Škrbić, Faculty of Technology, University of Novi Sad), the reimbursement of costs will be made up to the maximum grant amount. |
