"Persistent organic pollutants in food and environment"
Organized within FP7 project CEFSER, GA 229629, by the Faculty of Technology, University of Novi Sad, Novi Sad, Republic Serbia

08-10 September 2011

Dear Colleagues,

It is a great pleasure to invite you to participate in the 2nd CEFSER Workhop on Persistent organic pollutants in food and the environment that will be held at the Faculty of Technology, University of Novi Sad, Novi Sad, Serbia, September 08-10, 2011. This is the second international meeting organized within the FP7 project CEFSER coordinated by the Faculty of Technology and funded by the European Commission. It is planned as a forum for the exchange of know-how and experience and for communicating the research results to the interested audience, covering the state-of-the-art and the latest trends in the food and environmental safety domains. The Workshop will also serve as a meeting point for the scientists from the Western Balkan Countries with the colleagues from the EU Member States, giving them a chance to discuss collaboration opportunities and possibilities for joint research activities. Therefore, a special session of the Workshop is dedicated to presentation of the EC funding opportunity and past and ongoing WBC's projects funded by the EC.

The Workshop thematic areas are:
  • Persistent contaminants in food: challenges and trends
  • Persistent contaminants in the environment: challenges and trends
  • New technologies for assuring food safety
  • New technologies for assuring the environmental protection
  • Chemometrics in assessment of the pollution level and risks
  • Reinforcement of the research capacities in the EU convergence regions in the area of food science: successful stories
The programme of the Workshop will consist of the plenary lectures, session lectures introducing the session topic, regular (authorial) contributions and poster presentations. The plenary speakers are eminent researchers from the outstanding EU institutions with prestigeous contributions in the food safety and the environmental protection.

Special opportunities will be offered to motivate the participation of the WBC's researchers and, especially, of young scientists through different grants and awards. There will be also a poster competition to encourage scientific activity of early stage career scientists registered for the participation in the events. First, second and third place awards will include a certificate and a prize.

The special sessions will be devoted to the relevant experience in research and capacity building projects within the 7th European Framework Programme.

The organizers are looking forward to meeting you in beautiful Novi Sad in late summer and hope that the Workshop will further promote cooperation of scientists in the food safety and the environmental protection domains in the enlarged EU,
